Hellblade 2 PS5 Release Date Announced

We knew that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 would be released for PS5 this Summer, and now we finally have a release date: August 12, 2025.

Earlier in May, the developers revealed that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will be released for PS5 later this year. The poster had the words ‘Enhanced’ written on it. Now we know what this ‘Enhanced’ term means exactly, and it seems like Senua’s Sacrifice PS4 owners are in for a treat, too.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Releases for PS5 This August

The August 12 release date for Hellblade 2 on PS5 has been officially confirmed, and it will be accompanied by a free ‘Enhanced’ update for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam. The game is available for pre-order now, with the standard edition costing players $49.99 and the deluxe edition priced at $69.99. Also, the players who own the PlayStation 4 release of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.

New Performance Mode

The title features a new Performance Mode, where players can experience smoother gameplay with a 60 FPS framerate. PC also features a new ‘Very High’ preset to push the limits further. The developers have also been optimising the game for Steam Deck, and Hellblade 2 will be Steam Deck Verified for the first time on August 12.

Dark Rot Challenge Mode

The Enhanced version of the game will also include a new Dark Rot Challenge mode, which provides players with an additional challenge. This optional game mode grows the Dark Rot each time the players fail. Once it reaches Senua’s head, the quest is over, and all progress is lost.

Enhanced Photo Mode and Developer Commentary

The game will also feature an Enhanced Photo Mode that comes with a new toolset within the mode and improvements across a multitude of settings, as well as an all-new ‘Motion’ tab for custom cinematic video capture. There’s also Developer Commentary to look forward to, which includes over 4 hours of insightful commentary from the ensemble cast, key collaborators in depicting Senua’s experience of psychosis, and development team members.
