Complete Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update 1.0.6 Patch Notes—New Quests, Characters and More

Assassin’s Creed Shadows title update 1.0.6 is all set to release tomorrow; interested players can check out the complete patch notes for this update below.

We have heard a bunch about Assassin’s Creed Shadows upcoming title update ahead of the patch notes, with the developers briefly informing us about new characters, quests, a nightmare difficulty and more. Now we have a better idea about what this AC Shadows patch will entail, and it seems players have a Critical Role collaboration to look forward to.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Title Update 1.0.6 Patch Notes Are Live

There is a bunch of new content to look forward to in the AC Shadows title update 1.0.6, including a Critical Role ally, a new quest, a new nightmare difficulty setting, a headgear toggle for cutscenes, VFX toggles, an open world alarm, horse camera presets, ultra low specs for PC and a plethora of bug fixes.

AC Shadows X Critical Role

As part of Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ second collaboration, players get new content inspired by Critical Role. The new content features a free quest called “A Critical Encounter.” Completing it will reward players with a new Ally to recruit and a new trophy/achievement. The new ally is Rufino, played by Robbie Daymond. Players will also receive a new banner in the hideout with the Critical Role logo.

The developers are also working on the Critical Role Weapon Pack, inspired by the Critical Role universe, which will be available for purchase through the in-game store. The pack will feature two weapons for both characters: “a Tanto and Katana for Naoe and a Kanabo and Teppo for Yasuke.”

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Nightmare Difficulty Setting

The Nightmare difficulty is introduced to provide additional challenges to the player’s journey, impacting both combat and stealth. With this setting on in AC Shadows title update 1.0.6, players must plan more tactically and pay better attention to their surroundings. The developers explained that player defences will be less effective, and enemies will deal greater damage. Enemy AI is more intelligent, faster, and more aggressive. Lastly, combat resources like adrenaline, rations, and shinobi items are harder to find.

Headgear Toggle for Cutscenes

This toggle has been one of the most highly requested features in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. It allows players to show their headgear (hood, helmet, headband or more) during cutscenes and dialogue scenes. The new option is available in the in-game settings; however, players should note that “headgear will not be displayed in cinematics or in some specific instances where a rule overrides this setting” (romance-specific cutscenes).

VFX Toggles

This is another feature requested by the community. It allows players to enable/disable specific VFX to better tailor their experience. The options include hiding or showing the loot on dead bodies, the player’s last known position, the special attack indicators of the enemies, and more. Players can find the new toggles in the Interface option menu.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Open World Alarm

The regional alert system in Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been expanded from castles to the whole province in title update 1.0.6. An alarm will be triggered when players repetitively attack civilians or military officials, leading to a group of Guardians to hunt you in the open world.

Horse Camera Presets

3 new camera presets have been added in title update 1.0.6 for when you are riding your mount in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Players can toggle between these presets by holding the down button on the controller/’X’ key on keyboard while riding.

AC Shadows Ultra Low Specs for PC

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows has added an ultra-low specs option for PC players, allowing them to experience the game in better framerate conditions even with limited GPU configurations. Interested players can check out the new required specs for the Ultra Low mode and all the bug fixes introduced with the AC Shadows title update 1.0.6 here.
