Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update 1.0.6 Will Add Nightmare Difficulty and New Characters

Ubisoft has revealed that the next major update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, 1.0.6, is a chunky one. It’s set to introduce the all-new ‘Nightmare’ difficulty tier, a new questline, fresh characters, and a stack of quality-of-life improvements.

Since being released on March 20, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been drip-fed updates from Ubisoft, which have helped the game to maintain a status of being the best AC title in many years. That’s what I alluded to in my review, anyway.

When is Update 1.0.6 Coming to Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Ubisoft has confirmed that Update 1.0.6 is coming to Assassin’s Creed Shadows on June 25, which means there’s not that long to wait.

In a post on social media, the team revealed a snippet of what’s coming, with the full patch notes for Update 1.0.6 sitting on the horizon:

We’ve got lots of exciting things coming to Title Update 1.0.6, including nightmare difficulty, a new questline, characters, and quality of life improvements.

Coming June 25!

Nightmare difficulty is probably the gem of the update for many users eager to get a deeper challenge, but what that tier entails has yet to be revealed. I’m hoping it’ll be an intelligent challenge and not a simple update that makes you weaker and enemies tougher.

Being frank, it’s probably going to be the latter.

There are a few bits we’re still waiting on in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, such as New Game+, the game’s first major expansion, Claws of Awaji, and some collaboration content in the form of crossover events, which are sure to be incoming.

It has now been three months since Assassin’s Creed Shadows hit the market – how is the game panning out for you? Do you agree it’s one of the best games in the series in a long time? Let me know on the Insider Gaming forum.
