Marvel Rivals Season 3 is expected to introduce a new character and map alongside balancing changes.
In Season 2.5, NetEase added Ultron as a new character, made a long list of buffs and nerfs, and added a new Convy map to the rotation. Additionally, the devs added six new Team-Up abilities, removed four, and re-balanced several others.
Usually, the devs wait until a seasonal update to make more balancing changes, but Marvel Rivals shifted the meta on June 19 with other buffs and nerfs. Let’s jump right into what fans can expect in Season 3.
Marvel Rivals Season 3 Expected Release Date

Based on the current Battle Pass and usual timeline, we expect Marvel Rivals Season 3 to start on July 11.
In April, NetEase revealed that starting with Season 3, seasons will last two months instead of three. Additionally, as part of the new seasonal model, the devs promised a new hero every month.
According to Creative Director Guangguang, this decision followed “extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluations” brought on by some concerns from the wider fanbase.
Marvel Rivals Season 3 Leaks
Jean Grey Hero Leak
In December 2024, a Marvel Rivals datamine revealed 12 new characters slated to join the game. This list included Emma Frost, Human Torch, Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing, and Ultron, who all went on to become official additions.
It also listed Jean Grey AKA Phoenix, and all signs point to her being the new character in Season 3.
In February, reliable leaker XOX_Leak shared datamined dialogue lines between Phoenix and other characters. Then, in April, players noticed that Jean Grey and Elixir were listed underneath challenges in Season 2, hinting that both characters would appear soon.
Marvel Rivals GG leaked potential abilities for the rumored Duelist.
Human Form
- Psychic Explosion
- Telekinetic Explosion
- Telekinetic Transfer
- Psychokinetic Transfer
- Shattered Star Impact
Phoenix Form
- Phoenix Shadow
- Phoenix Ray

The leak also reported that her Ultimate ability will burn the area for five seconds before respawning. Jean is widely regarded as one of the most powerful female characters in the Marvel universe, so we fully expect her to be a meta character when she finally joins the roster.

In addition to a new character, Season 3 will also introduce a new map, Battle Pass, and other new cosmetic items.
NetEase will reveal more information a few days before the season officially starts, and we will provide an update when we know more.
