Sloclap designed Rematch with teamplay in mind, so here is everything you need to know about split-screen and co-op.
Rematch is an online soccer game, featuring 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5 matches. You control one player, making cooperation with your team essential if you want to win. With that in mind, it’s much better to team up with friends, rather than with random players.
Since the game is available for Game Pass Ultimate members, it’s easy for Xbox players to convince their friends to play. Yet, Rematch does not have cross-play at launch, meaning it’s not possible to play with teammates on other consoles. Given those limitations, it would make life much easier if you could play split-screen co-op.
Can You Play Rematch in Split-Screen?

Split-screen is not available in Rematch.
There is no split-screen option available, either online or offline, and the development team didn’t directly explain why this is the case; however, they did provide some insight into the decision-making process.
On Rematch’s frequently asked questions page, Sloclap reiterated, “Rematch is primarily an online multiplayer game. However, practice mode and free play are available offline.”
Rematch was designed with online multiplayer in mind, so adding in a local split-screen option wasn’t in the cards.
Will Rematch Add Split-Screen Co-Op?
Sloclap currently has no plans to add split-screen to Rematch.
The development team outlined the post-launch content plan and explained why there would be minimal focus on supporting local split-screen or offline gameplay.
“Our focus is on crafting a multiplayer experience,” Slocalp explained. “Although a solo campaign is not on our current roadmap, we do have a few single-player workshops, and we might see more single-player content in.”
Having cross-play will make recruiting friends much easier. Slocap emphasized that it is one of the team’s “top priorities right now”, and they will “share an ETA as soon as possible”. Until then, you will have to make do with solo queuing or recruit players on the same platform.
In other gaming news, 1047 suffered layoffs, just weeks after Splitgate 2 launched, Persona 4 Revival is not releasing until at least 2026, and the first image of the Xbox Quest 3S leaked online.
