Next Battlefield Game Playtests Moves From Pre-Alpha to Alpha; Adds Battle Royale Files

Several playtesters have told Insider Gaming that the next Battlefield game has moved to its Alpha stage.

Playtesters, who have been playing the ‘Battlefield Labs’ playtests have told Insider Gaming that the games watermarks and labelling has been changed from ‘Battlefield Labs’ and ‘Pre-Alpha’ to simply ‘Alpha’.

The change came following a massive update to the game, which also apparently contained new material and files pertaining to the Battlefield Battle Royale. As of yet, the Battle Royale mode isn’t playable but could have been added to test as a part of Battlefield Labs in the future.

Images sent to Insider Gaming of the Battle Royale, which cannot be made public due to Non-disclosure agreements show two teams of four in a skirmish in what appears to be an abandoned factory.

Another image shows two soldiers looting weapons found within a hole in the wall, while another shows a team of four with different colored parachutes landing near some high-rise buildings.

According to Insider Gaming’s past exclusive report, the Battlefield Battle Royale is being developed by Ripple Effect and was set to be a free-to-play component to the game. Fingers crossed, those plans haven’t changed.

Either way, today’s recent update suggests that the next Battlefield game is trucking a long nicely, and an official announcement of the game with a reveal trailer could come soon.

Sources tell Insider Gaming that the full trailer for the game is to be expected within the next two months; which admittingly, could be considered as a well-educated guess given the timing. Nonetheless, we expect the trailer before Gamescom in August, unless EA are up for giving Geoff Keighley the privileged of the reveal at Opening Night Live.
