The long-rumored Greek God of War game that was in development at PlayStation has been delayed to 2026.
During the latest episode of The Last of the Nintendogs on June 17, journalist Jeff Grubb made the reveal during a segment talking about the types of games that could possibly be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 down the line.
“I have Marathon and the unannounced new God of War Greek project, which I heard was pushed into 2026 as well,” Grubb said.
It’s worth mentioning that the new God of War game had yet to be officially announced by PlayStation. That said, it can still see its release delayed, even internally.

As far as what the game is scheduled to be, all of it remains rumor and speculation. Rumors suggest that it will be a Metroidvania title that has you playing as Kratos’ brother, Deimos. The game’s story is set in Greece, and takes place before Kratos becomes a god. For those unaware—spoiler alert—Kratos originally becomes a god after defeating Ares in the first game.
An announcement of the game was expected sometime this year, but if it is delayed until 2026, PlayStation may hold off on anything official until it gets closer to when they plan on launching.
