CD Projekt Red has opened up about its PlayStation 5 Unreal Engine 5 demo and has said that it will be “extremely challenging” to get The Witcher 4 at 60FPS on the Xbox Series S.
The new interview came from Digital Foundry, where CD Projekt Red said that it will be making sure it doesn’t make the same mistakes it did with Cyberpunk 2077 when it came to performance issues.
This time around, CD Projekt Red will be taking a console-first approach to ensure 60FPS stability. However, the studio acknowledges that the Xbox Series S will be extremely challening.
On the Xbox Series S and the 60FPS benchmark, it was said, “I will say that 60 FPS will definitely be extremely challenging on the Series S, let’s just say that this something that we need to to figure out”.

So at the moment at least, CD Project Red does not have a 60FPS solution for The Witcher 4 on Xbox Series S, but they will be targeting it across on consoles. So, if CD Projekt Red manages to solve the issue remains to be seen.
The Witcher 4 Gameplay
Earlier in June, CD Projekt Red showed off what to expect in Unreal Engine with The Witcher 4 in a new tech demo. Soon after, CD Projekt Red confirmed that the gameplay wasn’t actually from The Witcher 4, and was just a means to show off the tech of Unreal Engine.
As for when CD Projekt Red revels more on The Witcher 4 remains to be seen, but we’re likely a couple years away stiff from the game releasing.
