PlayStation VR2 Controllers Confirmed for VisionOS 26

At Apple’s 2025 Worldwide Developer Conference, PlayStation VR2 controllers were confirmed to be compatible with the Apple Vision Pro.

VisionOS 26 is an upcoming update for Vision Pro, introducing several new features. This includes new support for 180-degree, 360-degree, and wide field of view content for cameras. Additionally, there are new spatial widgets, such as Clock, Weather, Music, and more.

The update also introduces a new Control Center, allowing users to unlock their iPhones while wearing Vision Pro and answer phone calls. Regarding the gaming aspect of the hardware, a new controller option is available.

As confirmed in an Apple Press release, “visionOS 26 also introduces support for the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller. Now, developers can deliver even more engaging gameplay experiences for Apple Vision Pro thanks to high-performance motion tracking in 6 degrees of freedom, finger touch detection, and vibration support.”

This presents an issue, however, as the PS VR2 Sense controllers are not sold separately from the headset. As a result, the only available option is to purchase the headset and two controllers for $399.99. There have been rumors that controllers will be sold separately in the future, but Sony hasn’t confirmed an official date.

This is, of course, in addition to purchasing an Apple Vision Pro, which starts at $3,499. That’s a tall ask for most consumers who want to take advantage of the new compatibility.

All of the new VisionOS 26 features are available for testing through the Apple Developer Program. If you aren’t a member, the update is expected to go live in the fall.

In other hardware news, you can play your Nintendo Switch 2 using a PS5 DualSense controller, Nintendo Switch 2 broke the record for all console sales, and Xbox partnered with ASUS to create a new handheld device.
