Gears of War: Reloaded’s PS5 version has been cancelled in Japan due to regional rating restrictions.
Gears of War: Reloaded Cancels PS5 Release In Japan
The official Japanese Xbox Wire Site (via TheGamer) reveals that Gears of War: Reloaded will not be released for PS5s in Japan due to regional rating restrictions and platform policies. Players in Japan will only have the option to play the game on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Game Pass, and Steam on launch day.
A report by Gamespark reveals why Gears of War: Reloaded cancelled its PS5 release in Japan. The game could not pass the CERO rating due to “blood, gory depictions, and intense violence”.
Gears of War: Reloaded Beta Details
Gears of War: Reloaded will be released on August 27, 2025. Ahead of the full release, players can try out the multiplayer experience during the two-weekend beta test that starts on June 13, 2025. There are three ways you can access the Beta test: pre-order Gears of War: Reloaded digitally for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam or PlayStation 5 , have an active Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass membership or own a digital copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
During the first Gears of War: Reloaded beta test (June 13 – June 15), players will try the classic Team Deathmatch mode across three maps, including Gridlock, Raven Down and Gold Rush. On the second beta weekend (June 20 – June 22), players will try out the King of the Hill mode on the map Canals. Also, Courtyard and War Machine maps will be added to Team Deathmatch.
