The hype leading up to the Nintendo Switch 2 launch was seismic. However, if a new report is to be believed, I don’t think anyone could have foreseen the Switch 2 breaking all console records and possibly standing on its own as the king of consoles.
The Nintendo Switch 2’s debut has seen holes being stapled through the device, and replacements being offered for faulty Joy-Con 2 controllers. Has this stopped Switch 2 sales? Far from it, it seems.
“No Console Has Come Close” to Nintendo Switch 2 Sales Start

According to Nintendo Prime (via Paul Gale): “I have now heard from 3 independent people that Nintendo has globally shifted over 3 million Switch 2 units. This doesn’t include any additional sales made today already and over the upcoming weekend.
For perspective, no console has come close to that level of sales in 24 hours. Over a 24-hour launch, the previous record was held by PS4, which sold just over 1m units worldwide. The two-month total record is around 4.5m units, held by PS5 and PS4. Nintendo is on pace to beat that in less than a week.
Sales of this magnitude have literally never been seen in console history!“
There have been plenty of reports of stores still having Switch 2 consoles. On the other hand, Nintendo has reportedly made sure there are plenty of Switch consoles to go around. Nintendo even readied out-of-stock signs, and if this report is true, this is likely happening all over the world.
The Switch 1 was a massive success, and despite the increased price of the console and games, its specs and features are clearly desirable to many.
