Elden Ring Nightreign was designed for trios, but is it possible to play duos instead?
FromSoftware balanced enemies in Elden Ring Nightreign, specifically for trios. You are more than welcome to play solos as well, and the enemies are rebalanced, but some players still believe it’s too challenging to go in alone.
FromSoftware responded by announcing an update that increases Runes in solo expeditions and adds an automatic revive once per night boss battle. In addition to a better-balanced solo mode, duos is a hot-button topic among community members.
Can You Play Elden Ring Nightreign Duos?

Elden Ring Nightreign does not support duos. All expeditions feature three players, unless somebody leaves early.
In an interview with IGN on May 22, Elden Ring Nightreign director Junya Ishizaki apologized for not including an option for duos.
“The simple answer is that this is simply something that was overlooked during development as just a two-player option, so we’re very sorry about that, Ishizaki said. “we kind of overlooked and neglected the duos aspect, but this is something that we are looking at and considering for post-launch support as well.”
Ishizaki didn’t provide a definitive timeline for that update, but did leave the door open for duos to be added in the future. One clever modder took matters into their own hands and created a mod that supports duos.
Elden Ring Nightreign Seamless Co-Op Mod Explained
In response to there being no duos, the Seamless Co-Op mod overhauls multiplayer and allows you to play in duos.
The modders warned players that there would be bugs, but this is the best option for players to queue duos instead of trios while waiting for an official update from FromSoftware. This mod is only available for PC, meaning PlayStation and Xbox users won’t have the same luxury.
Along with duos, you also have an option to play with five other users. This isn’t a surefire way to get around Elden Ring Nightreign’s matchmaking restrictions, but it’s a noteworthy stopgap to bide the time.
