EA Entertainment Focusing On Fewer Franchises Moving Forward

EA Entertainment is changing its gaming focus moving forward. As part of the decision to cancel the Black Panther game that was in development and shut down Cliffhanger Studios, EA is also pivoting to put its attention more towards specific franchises.

According to IGN’s Rebekah Valentine, EA Entertainment president Laura Miele said that the company is going to be focusing more on a “small handful” of franchises. Per the report, Miele specifically says that Battlefield, The Sims, Skate, and Apex Legends will be the key games moving forward.

That said, there is still heavy support for game’s like Iron Man, which is in development at Motive, and the upcoming Star Wars: Jedi title from Respawn. BioWare is also set to continue working on the next Mass Effect game.

EA Sports franchises are currently unaffected by the new changes, according to Valentine. EA Sports and EA Entertainment are two separate divisions within the company. The sports side currently has College Football 26, Madden NFL 26, EA Sports FC 26, NHL 26, and UFC 6 in development. There has also been work done on a potential return of Fight Night, though it’s unknown what the state of its possible return is given all of the recent cuts with EA as a whole.

As of writing EA has yet to publicly announce these changes in planning. Should a public statement be made, it will be added to this story.
