Doom: The Dark Ages is the “biggest launch” in id Software’s 34-year history.
In a post on social media, it was revealed that the latest game in the Doom series has already reached 3 million players. According to the game’s publisher Bethesda, Doom: The Dark Ages reached the milestone seven times faster than its predecessor Doom Eternal.
“Thank you for making DOOM: The Dark Ages the biggest launch in id’s history,” the post reads.
It’s worth mentioning that the post specifically mentions the number of players the game has had. What isn’t currently known is just how well Doom: The Dark Ages is actually selling. That information will likely come at a later date either when monthly numbers are revealed from firms such as Circana or as part of Microsoft’s quarterly earnings calls.

No matter how they acquired the players, however, 3 million in five days time is nothing short of impressive for the franchise.
Doom: The Dark Ages launched May 15 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The game was also available Day One on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
