Support players in Marvel Rivals should have an easier time defending themselves in the next patch, thanks to some significant buffs coming to heroes in the Strategist roles. Not only will supports get buffed, but some of the heroes that harass Strategists the most will also get nerfed.
Marvel Rivals Patch 20250430 Balance Changes
The highlight of the balance changes coming to Marvel Rivals on April 30th are the buffs to four support Strategist heroes.
- Adam Warlock: When a Quantum Magic (primary fire) critical hit lands on an enemy, the cooldown timer of Avatar Life Stream is reduced by one second.
- Cloak & Dagger: Cloak’s Darkforce Cloak damage (primary fire) increased from 75 damage per second to 80 damage per second. Dagger’s Lightforce Dagger (primary fire) damage increased from 15 to 18.
- Luna Snow: Damage at range for Light & Dark Ice (primary fire) increased – damage falloff at 40 meters changed from 60% to 75%.
- Mantis: Hit damage of Life Energy Blast (primary fire) from 50 to 55.
All the buffs to Strategists in this patch have to do with enhancing the hero’s primary fire ability, and all of the buffs except for Adam Warlock’s explicitly improve their damage.
Some of the heroes considered the most obnoxious by the wider Marvel Rivals community are getting some nerfs. Spider-Man’s Amazing Combo uppercut is getting a decrease in its range from five meters to four. Captain America’s base health is being reduced from 650 to 600. And Groot’s Ironwood Wall is getting a health decrease from 700 down to 600.
To round out the latest Marvel Rivals patch changes, Doctor Strange and Winter Soldier are receiving buffs. Strange’s ultimate, Eye of Agamotto, is getting a cost reduction, meaning it can be used more frequently. Winter Soldier is getting a second charge to the Tainted Voltage electrical punch ability, and his team up with Captain America is also getting a buff.
These changes come after a period of weeks where supports in Marvel Rivals have been “on strike.” Feeling unappreciated by how other players and certain content creators have treated them, support play has dipped drastically. With these changes, it seems that NetEase is at least attempting to make the Strategists feel more appreciated?
