A new announcement has revealed that Hogwarts Legacy has sold over 40 million units across all platforms.
Hogwarts Legacy was the best-selling game of 2023, and it’s no surprise considering it’s an AAA open-world title set in the highly popular Harry Potter franchise. There were also talks of a Definitive Edition in development; however, that version of Hogwarts Legacy has since been cancelled by Warner Bros. Games. That decision hasn’t affected the game’s sales as it still seems to be going strong.
Hogwarts Legacy Reaches Huge New Sales Milestone

The confirmation that Hogwarts Legacy has sold 40 million units comes from a post on their official X account (formerly Twitter). The developers have thanked the community for helping them reach this milestone, and in return, players have submitted requests to the devs. Some want co-op multiplayer in the sequel, others want modding tools on consoles, and a few have also requested DLC for Hogwarts Legacy.
For those unaware, Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world action RPG set in the same magical universe as the Harry Potter movies and books. Players get to explore familiar and new locations, spend time discovering magic beasts, craft points, master spells, and much more. Your character is central to the plot as they hold the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart.
In other news, Hogwarts Legacy 2 was confirmed to be in production last year. Additionally, here are some guides on how to install Hogwarts Legacy mods and the best official mods out there.
