50 Cent Is Helping Turn PAYDAY Into a Screen Franchise

The partnership is very fitting. VICE Studios has never shied away from real-life stories that are comparable to the plot of PAYDAY.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is no stranger to the video game world; he had multiple games built around his persona in the 2000s. He said in a press release that he’s excited about the opportunity to push the heist genre forward.
“G-Unit Film & TV has built cinematic crime stories that connect with audiences around the world. Teaming up with Starbreeze and VICE Studios and bringing the world of PAYDAY to the screen gives us the chance to build something big, a high-energy franchise that pushes the heist genre forward,” said Jackson.
The series first launched in 2011 and now serves a community of more than 50 million players. As video game adaptations become the norm, PAYDAY is poised to be the next major gaming franchise to take over the screen beyond video games.
