Yoshi and the Mysterious Book Turns the Page in Spring 2026

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, a new adventure for everyone’s favorite dinosaur from the Mario series. It will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 next spring.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book Releases Next Spring

This adventure revolves around Yoshi meeting a new character named Mr. E, an encyclopedia that contains a wealth of information about various creatures from around the world. However, he can’t read the info inside his pages, so Yoshi jumps in to learn more.

From the gameplay revealed, it looks like your job in this game is to learn about the fantastical creatures on Yoshi’s Island by carrying them around and seeing how they interact with the environment. There was no mention of the end of the stage, so we’re not sure if this is a linear platformer or if the stage ends once you gather enough information about said creature.

When Nintendo releases a new Yoshi game, they are usually quite different from what you would see in a Mario game. Everyone knows the original Yoshi’s Island is more of a get-to-the-end adventure, but Yoshi’s Story on the N64 was focused on eating fruit in a level. Making a game that has him focused on creatures isn’t necessarily a far-out idea.

It doesn’t look like there is any main antagonist for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, at least yet. Knowing Nintendo, there is very much a chance that everything will be cheerful and relaxed, and then suddenly, Baby Bowser will appear and ruin Mr. E and Yoshi’s day, forcing you to take him down. However, he did not appear in this trailer.

What else was shown alongside Yoshi and the Mysterious Book? How about Super Mario Galaxy 1+2, which features Yoshi in the second game? Yoshi will also be hitting the court again in Mario Tennis Fever.
