XBOX Revealed Senua to Attract Ninja Theory Buyer

Ninja Theory is among several studios facing closure by XBOX, and while the closure decision surprised many as it occurred just days after the reveal of Senua, the apparent reasons for XBOX’s showcase decision have emerged.

According to Game File, Microsoft’s plan to sunset or split with Ninja Theory was made ahead of the Xbox Game Showcase on June 7, with the thinking that “the promise of a newly announced game would help draw investor interest in the studio.”

However, it seems that it hasn’t quite gone to plan, as reports continue to indicate that Ninja Theory will be shuttered, while other studios facing closure have been reported to be in discussions to negotiate the prevention of being closed down.

Reports have stated that Compulsion and Double Fine are looking to negotiate with Microsoft’s gaming wing, but it has since been indicated that Ninja Theory is shutting down.

Ninja Theory’s closure and the other studios set to be sunset come amid a sweep of changes at XBOX under the leadership of Asha Sharma, who has also cut Game Pass prices and restored exclusivity banners for some titles.

However, one XBOX executive has said the company isn’t reversing course on its exclusive games strategy, despite Gears of War: E-Day and Fable confirmed to be platform exclusive.

Check out the reveal trailer for Senua below.

  • It’s clear. The studio was always a waste same with all the XGS studios only Playground and Mojang paid themselves off. Close the rest down with Arkane and Machine.

  • Am i understanding it correctly that they made the workers believe that they are working on a new game? And they made everyone else beleive that a new game is being made while in reality there was only a trailer made in a few days? That sounds so evil in so many ways.
