Rumors Of Xbox Reversing Exclusive Plans “False”, Says Executive

With all of the rumors, reports, and scuttlebutt surrounding Xbox right now, a new one regarding the company’s plans for exclusives has made the rounds.

Online speculation picked up on Monday that Xbox was already set to reverse course on its plans for exclusive games. There had even been claims that it was only said and done as a PR stunt. But one Xbox executive has already gone on record to discredit those rumors.

Xbox Moving Forward With Exclusives

In a reply to Windows Central’s Jez Corden on Twitter, Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball called the rumors “false”. He said that in addition to the already confirmed upcoming exclusives, there will be more in the years to come.

“These rumors are false,” Ball said. “Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will stay exclusive. There are no conversations and have been no conversations to ‘reverse course.’

“And as we said last week, players can continue to expect signature exclusives from us every year.”

Major Changes Coming to Xbox

As mentioned, there are a lot of reports surrounding Xbox right now. Insider Gaming recently confirmed with internal sources that the company was planning to close South of Midnight developer Compulsion Games. In addition, other studios facing closure include Ninja Theory and Double Fine. I’ve also been told that Arkane Lyon is a studio at risk.

Efforts, however, are being made to keep them open in some way.

What do you think of Xbox’s CSO reaffirming the company’s stance on exclusives moving forward? What about the reported closures of several studios? Leave your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion in the official Insider Gaming Discord.
