Microsoft Teased ‘Unique’ and ‘Powerful’ Next-Gen Xbox Console

During the recent Official Xbox Podcast that featured Sarah Bond, Matt Booty, and Phil Spencer, it was revealed that Microsoft is already investing heavily in the next generation of Xbox hardware. It was promised that Microsoft is shaping up to deliver the ‘largest technical leap’ with what comes next, pushing out a unique and powerful console that alters the established paradigm as we know it.

The Next Generation

On the Official Xbox Podcast, newly-crowned Xbox President, Sarah Bond, broke down what’s next for Xbox:

We’ve got more to come. There’s some exciting stuff coming out in hardware that we’re going to share this holiday. We’re also invested in the next-generation roadmap. What we’re really focused on there is delivering the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation, which makes it better for players and better for creators and the visions that they’re building.

Phil Spencer took a moment to talk about the topic of handheld consoles. There have been plenty of rumours circulating of late concerning a potential Xbox handheld, but Spencer confirmed there’s nothing to announce – he’s a ‘big fan of handhelds’, though.

Here’s the full podcast episode:

It was stressed that there’s a ‘robust and innovative’ multi-year hardware roadmap lined up for Microsoft and Xbox. As a reassurance to fans panicking about the future of Team Green, it was very much a statement that Microsoft is firmly invested in the future of its gaming hardware.
