A report from yesterday revealed that XBOX has brought on two new executives: Matthew Ball, the new Chief Strategy Officer, and Scott Van Vliet, who will serve as the Chief Technology Officer. XBOX CSO Will Work on Strengthening the Console Business and Reviving Storied Franchises
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Matthew Ball, the new Chief Strategy Officer of Xbox, expressed his commitment to restoring the brand to its former glory. He discussed how the company has experienced several challenging and “largely disappointing quarters.” Ball emphasized their goal of turning the business around by attracting more players and increasing player hours.
Ball then discussed his goal of reviving storied franchises and expanding the console business, which is currently facing challenges from rising component costs and an increase in memory prices. Nevertheless, he believes that the console business is “important, durable, and still growing.” The Chief Strategy Officer also stated that “revenue will follow, and profit should as well” if XBOX adheres to the new CEO’s strategy.
The new Xbox Chief Strategy Officer discussed the company’s commitment to providing “better and bigger ways to explore, create, co-create, and build together” in their games. However, it remains unclear whether Microsoft plans to introduce more user-generated content.
In other news, EA ‘hated’ the idea of a Family Tier for XBOX Game Pass, ultimately leading Microsoft to scrap development.
