GTA 6 Marketing Plan ‘Reflects Where Audiences and Attention is Today’, Says Take-Two CEO

In a new interview, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has revealed that there is marketing in place for GTA 6, but that it reflects where audiences and attention are today.

In short, Zelnick suggests that GTA 6 marketing will not be similar to the likes of GTA 5.

In the new interview with GI.biz, Zelnick directly answers the question around marketing for GTA 6 and, I guess, that all-important GTA 6 Trailer 3 reveal that everyone is adamant must be released as soon as possible.

Zelnick said in the interview, “I’ve been asked by investors whether we need to spend marketing dollars given the scale of the intellectual property and its reach and the sentiment,” he says. “And the answer is of course we need to market it.” We should expect “a very significant broad based marketing campaign that reflects where audiences and attention is today,” which is to say it won’t resemble the approach taken for GTA 5 back in 2013. “13 years ago we were still buying network television. We won’t be buying a lot of network television.”

So basically, don’t expect a GTA 6 trailer today, and expect Strauss Zelnick to once again reconfirm in today’s Take-Two earnings call that GTA 6 marketing will start in the summer. Summer officially starts on June 21.

My Opinion No One Cares About

It’s possible that GTA 6’s marketing could start soon after June 21; however, I’m inclined to believe that GTA 6’s marketing will start in the latter half of the summer.

Why? Because they don’t really need to do anything before then, and Zelnick is pretty much telling us that. We’re now in the ‘information age’, and a trailer today or in a week doesn’t really do much for the game at this moment in time, despite the internet telling us it does… The community will see trailer 3 and then what? Back to begging for the next trailer? It doesn’t make economic sense to waste millions (which sounds hilarious when talking about a game that will probably do 2.5 billion dollars in its first day).

So, when will we actually get trailer 3? Again, this is just my opinion, but I really don’t think Take-Two needs to do anything until mid-late August. In mid-to-late August, Take-Two Interactive’s next earnings call will take place, and the company tends to hype up the numbers from these calls to investors. Apart from that, we could potentially see it a little earlier, perhaps during the FIFA World Cup final on July 19th, to get millions of eyes on the product?

Who knows… When do you think GTA 6 Trailer 3 is going to release? Let us know on the Insider Gaming Discord server.
