The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past has been revealed in full by CD Projekt during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live showcase. The long-awaited expansion, which perfectly bridges the gap between The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Witcher 4, is now out there for all to see, and it looks stunning.
At Gamescom, Songs of the Past has a playable experience in one of the biggest exhibits on the show floor, and CDP is inviting gamers one and all to participate. This expansion arrives a whopping eleven years after the last Witcher 3 expansion, Blood and Wine, dropped to critical acclaim.
The Witcher 3 is Back in Songs of the Past
At Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event, CD Projekt stole the show with an incredible CG trailer advertising Songs of the Past, the new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It might seem incredible, but this expansion comes a full decade after the last one, Blood and Wine, a piece of DLC that effectively ended the development of The Witcher 3, one of the most beloved games ever made.

Songs of the Past was the subject of many rumors for months, with some insiders revealing the expansion was in development as far back as mid-2025. It has taken this long for CD Projekt to piece it together while working on other projects, but it looks like it was worth the wait.
In Songs of the Past, we return to assume the role of Geralt of Rivia, voiced by Doug Cockle, in an all-original, game-merging expansion.
Another huge story tied to The Witcher was the reveal of The Witcher 3 Remastered, a massive overhaul to the original game that will be free for all The Witcher 3 owners, launching September 29th.
