With XDefiant launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, we have questions about filling a lobby in the competitive arena shooter. Does XDefiant have crossplay? It’ll certainly make it easier to play a game against human opponents, so let’s find out!
Is XDefiant Crossplay?
Yes, XDefiant does offer crossplay support between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you can’t find a packed lobby while playing on your chosen system, the game automatically fills it with players from other systems. It’s on by default, so far as we can tell, but whether that’s good or bad remains to be seen.
Typically, when you have a competitive shooter on PC, those players perform exceptionally well. On the other hand, console players tend to lag. A mouse and keyboard are generally more accurate and responsive than a controller in a fast-paced FPS. It’ll be interesting to see how Ubisoft balances the game from the get-go with all three systems in mind!

What is XDefiant?
XDefiant is Ubisoft’s competitive arena-based shooter with hero abilities and their usual gunplay, but it’s frantic and fun. It’s similar in style to Overwatch but with Ubisoft’s usual flair. By that, we mean they’ve borrowed some of the combat mechanics and feel from other open-world titles in their roster, such as Ghost Recon and The Division.
Once you’re in XDefiant for the first time, you’ll likely find the 6×6 gameplay familiar and, dare I say, even enticing. From what we saw in the beta, it’s a fun time all around.
Alongside XDefiant, Insider Gaming keeps track of countless other upcoming games; we’re excited about most of them. Check it out:
