Season 8 of Marvel Rivals is almost here, and as has become custom, that means two new characters are expected to join the roster over the next two months or so. Everything is pointing to two characters in particular, Cyclops and Devil Dinosaur, with the latter likely to be the first addition, thanks to an early teaser.
However, just like some characters in prior seasons of Marvel Rivals, plenty of you might be unfamiliar with Devil Dinosaur; after all, they’re a relatively niche character in the Marvel universe, especially compared to this season’s accomplice, Cyclops.
That’s why we’re here to spill the beans on everything Devil Dinosaur. From their first comic appearance to their character traits and history, by the end of the article, you should be more than ready for the lovable Dino to step onto the Marvel Rivals stage.
Who Is Devil Dinosaur?
Devil Dinosaur was first introduced as a giant red Tyrannosaurus Rex who lived in Dinosaur World, a version of Earth in a parallel universe where dinosaurs co-exist with primitive humanoid tribes.
He got his fiery red appearance after he was nearly burned to death by a tribe of Killer-Folk, but Moon-Boy, a young member of a rival tribe, rescued him. Not only did the fire change his skin, but it also activated dormant mutations inside him, giving him greater powers than the rest of his species.

Devil Dinosaur proceeded to team up with Moon-Boy, as the two formed an unbreakable bond. They embarked on numerous sporadic adventures throughout the Marvel universe, including teaming up with Godzilla and relocating to the Savage Land in the main Earth-616 continuity.
However, Moon-Boy eventually meets his end, and Moon-Girl takes over as Devil Dinosaur’s new companion. Thanks to her Inhuman powers, she can switch minds with Devil Dinosaur, putting her in control of his body while the dinosaur inhabits her human form.
The two are inexplicably tied together and crucial to one another’s story. Moon Girl’s impact on Devil Dinosaur in Marvel Rivals remains to be seen, but don’t be surprised if his character has some mind-switching abilities, perhaps tied to his Ultimate.
What Are Devil Dinosaur’s Abilities?
Devil Dinosaur has a notable list of abilities, though the obvious one is the fact that they’re a giant T-Rex!
In the comics, Devil Dinosaur is generally presented as having a surprisingly high intelligence, especially for a dinosaur. It’s arguable that he’s as smart, or potentially smarter, than the average human, though he typically can’t speak.

As for his power, he’s naturally strong as a dinosaur, but his strength exceeds the typical threshold for a T-Rex. To add to that, his mutant powers make him extremely resistant to heat and practically bulletproof.
He’s even prone to fluctuating in size, though it’s unclear whether that’s an inherent ability or an unintended side effect of his mutation—or a quick explanation for comic continuity!
How these abilities present themself in Marvel Rivals remains to be seen, but you shouldn’t have to wait too long, as he’s bound to be officially revealed over the coming days, so keep an eye out!
