When Will GTA 6 Release on PC?

After years of anticipation, the GTA 6 trailer was finally released and it has already amassed over 80 million views in less than one day, which could signal that it could become the biggest video game launch of all time when it is eventually released in 2025. Unfortunately for some gamers though, it won’t be launching on PC and will instead release on PS5 and Xbox Series X initially. All is not lost though as it will come to PC at a later date and this is when you can expect it.

Following the release of the GTA 6 trailer, Take-Two Interactive confirmed that the game will be launching first on console saying,

“Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to PlayStation 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X/S games and entertainment systems in 2025.”

Although this will be disappointing news for many players, it isn’t unexpected as Rockstar Games hasn’t released a mainline GTA game on PC at launch since GTA 2 in 1999, with even other franchises often releasing later on PC too. Until Rockstar Games announces an official release date for GTA 6 it will be difficult to pinpoint when the game will be released on PC, but taking a look at past releases could help us narrow down an estimated window.

GTA 5 was first released on PS3 and Xbox 360 back in September 2013 and then eventually made its way to PC 19 months later in April 2015. Red Dead Redemption 2 was released on PS4 and Xbox One in October 2018 before being followed by a PC port 13 months later in November 2019. This means we can likely expect the PC release of GTA between 12-18 months after the console version launches.

Based on previous release windows, it is likely that GTA 6 could be released between September and November 2025. However, it was recently noticed that a shirt in GTA Online could have been teasing the release date all along as April 2025. If this release date is correct then we could expect the PC port between April and October 2026. But, if it releases in the latter half of 2025, we may have to wait until between September 2026 and April 2027 for GTA 6 to come to PC.
