Are you anxiously awaiting the release date of Dead Island 2? You’re not alone. Dambuster Studios’ spiritual successor to the original 2011 title has been subject to a lengthy development cycle that has spanned nearly a decade.
After a period of radio silence, the game was re-announced last year with a stylish new aesthetic and rocker protagonist. In its current state, Dead Island 2 is set to build on the strongest foundation of the original game in a blood and gore-soaked journey through a zombie-infested Los Angeles. Luckily there’s not too much longer to wait.
Dead Island 2 Release Date
Dead Island 2 is set to release on April 21 across PC, PS4/5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It looks like this release date is set in stone after a period of fluctuation. The game was originally set to launch in March but was faced with a delay that pushed the game back to April 28 before it was pushed forward a week to the current release date of April 21.
It’s a welcome sight to see a game ship earlier than anticipated, especially considering Dead Island 2’s ten-year arc which has been fraught with delays. The game is currently available to pre-order and comes in four separate editions each of which contains different in-game items as well as weapon and character packs.
Players will be glad to know that the standard edition will be available at the same price of $69.99 across all consoles regardless of which generation you’re playing on. The PC version of the game is slightly cheaper at $59.99 and is available via Epic Games Store.
Pre-ordering the game will allow players early access to in-game items like the Banoi War Club and Baseball Bat, along with the Personal Space Skill Card.
