French Esports organization Team Vitality has announced its withdrawal from RENNSPORTS sim racing, citing issues in the sim racing ecosystem as the reason.
The news follows the removal of RENNSPORT from the Esports World Cup titles lineup, alongside the foundational esports title, StarCraft II.
Vitality announces release of RENNSPORT team
Team Vitality has withdrawn from the RENNSPORT space, releasing their roster due to a stated lack of foundation in the esports ecosystem, adding, “Despite our optimism and ambition to elevate the space, we came to the realization that the plans we originally laid out would no longer be attainable.”
Vitality announced the release of their RENNSPORT sim racing team with the following statement, explaining their ultimate withdrawal from the space:
“After more than two years, it is unfortunately time for us to say farewell to Marcell Csincsik, Erhan Jajovski, Thibault Cazaubon and Jiri Toman, who previously competed as part of our RENNSPORT sim racing lineup.
The current sim racing esports ecosystem no longer has a foundation within which teams can sustainably operate. Despite our optimism and ambition to elevate the space, we came to the realization that the plans we originally laid out would no longer be attainable.
As a result, we made the tough call to reposition ourselves and continue competing in sim racing solely with our Gran Turismo players Kylian, Antonio and Kaj at least until the end of the year.”
As part of Team Vitality, the sim racing team of Thibault Cazaubon, Marcell Csincsik, Erhan Jajovski, and Jiri Toman had finished second at EWC 2024 and third at EWC 2025, finishing the Esports Racing League’s Grand Final with a second-place finish.
Team Vitality went on to thank the team for representing the roster, adding, “We can only express our gratitude and appreciation for their time, dedication and all the moments they have shared with us.”
Esports World Cup death kneel for RENNSPORTS
The news comes at an ironic but logical time during the esports calendar, namely during the Esports World Cup 2026.
RENNSPORT became one of two titles to be dropped from the Esports World Cup for EWC 2026, alongside StarCraft II. RENNSPORT was contested at EWC 2024 and 2025, providing a $500,000 cash injection into the scene annually, but no more.
Despite incentives from the Esports Foundation to field teams across different titles, RENNSPORT regressed from 12 competing teams in 2024 to just 2025.
The viewership for the sim racing title failed to break out of its niche, peaking at just 9,482 viewers at the Esports World Cup 2025, the lowest at the event by far.
Without the cash injection of the Esports World Cup, and without the associated incentives and Club Championship prize money at EWC, Vitality has seemingly run out of reasons to stay in the title.
