Valve Provides Update on Steam Controller Reservations

Valve has provided an update on Steam Controller reservations, offering customers more details on availability and orders.

The Steam Controller remains the only of the three hardware items Valve announced in 2025 to have been released and is available for purchase. The controller has also sold out on various occasions.

Now, a new update provides more details on future reservation windows, so players know when they can get their hands on a Steam Controller if they so desire.

Valve Shares New Update on Steam Controller Reservations

Steam Controller early

On Thursday, June 18, Valve announced a new system that will allow players to see when the Steam Controller they order will arrive. There are three potential delivery windows: September 2026, December 2026, or 2027. Should the latter occur, additional information on specific timing will be available at a later date. Perhaps most importantly, Valve says it has no plans to stop production on the controller. Still, current demand is outpacing production, and they want to manage expectations.

“We have no plans to stop making Steam Controller. But as we look at the current demand compared to how many we know we can make by the end of the year, we want to manage expectations as much as we can with regards to when folks can expect to receive their order,” the post on the official Steam blog says.

For anyone hoping to make reservations, Valve says representatives will email customers with an option to buy a controller once their place in the queue comes up. At that point, potential customers will have 72 hours to complete their order before they are removed, giving the next person in line an opportunity.

Insider Gaming will continue to monitor the story and report any updates as more information becomes available. Are you still hoping to get your hands on a Steam Controller? Sound off about this story and all others in our official Discord server.
