The September 2026 Sony State of Play showcased a ton of PlayStation games and exclusives, but it’s hard to overlook how cool and cold the new Until Dawn 2 trailer is.
It was revealed during the June showcase that Until Dawn 2 was coming in 2027. It’s a completely new entry in the series, and it refines the genre’s trademark narrative horror. We took a deeper look at Until Dawn 2 during the recent September 2026 SOP, and you can learn more below…if you dare.
Until Dawn 2 is set to release on January 28, 2027 on the PlayStation 5.
Sony State of Play Shows Off Scary New Until Dawn 2 Trailer

Until Dawn is probably the best of the decision-making horror games: The cast of characters, the villain(s), the setting, the story. It all just clicked, and Supermassive Games tried to recapture the magic with The Dark Pictures Anthology games, The Quarry, and the team has since moved on.
In comes Firesprite to lead the sequel, and with Neil Newbon and others on board, Until Dawn 2 is shaping up to be a terrifying treat.

We learned more during the new Sony State of Play, and you can check out how the new story is developing in the second trailer.
The games description reads,
“The Dead True ghost-hunting crew are chasing their biggest story yet. After an investigation at Blackwood Sanitorium takes a chilling turn, an encounter with supernatural survivor Yoona leads them to Akishima Island, a remote paradise abandoned for decades and hiding secrets far older than any of them imagined. As the night unfolds, your choices will decide what happens next. Follow a signal in search of a missing friend, or risk a detour that could uncover vital clues. Make the sacrifice you’re told to make, or choose another way. Every decision can change the story, and determine who survives.”
