It has happened; 4A Games has unveiled the official release date for Metro 2039, which is fast becoming one of 2027’s most highly anticipated games. The post-apocalyptic first-person shooter has been turning heads since it was fully revealed earlier this year, and thanks to a strong run at Gamescom, things are looking better than ever.
It’s set to be the darkest Metro game ever made, and having played 10 hours during a preview in August, I can attest to that fact. It’s a phenomenal shooter with immense promise, and it now has a solid release date.
Metro 2039 is Coming February 4th
Metro 2039 is arriving on XBOX, PlayStation 5, and PC on February 4th, 4A Games revealed today during the State of Play showcase. With a new trailer showcasing console gameplay for the first time, the team uncovered a fair portion of the demo or preview material that fans have been seeing for a few weeks.
But the trailer ended with a monumental revelation: the game’s release date.
After a few minutes of stellar visuals, intense gunfights, sumptuous post-apocalyptic world-building, and tidbits of new lore, the trailer wrapped up to reveal that the game will hit the market on February 4, 2027.
Here’s that trailer:
Metro 2039 has already amassed almost two million wishlists globally, and it keeps climbing all the time. Recently, the game was on the show floor at Gamescom, offering players their first hands-on experience with the game, and it went like gangbusters. This really is an exciting project, and it’s arriving almost eight years to the day since Metro Exodus was released, back in 2019.
