Ubisoft’s New Company Officially Launches Today

Update: Ubisoft has officially announced the start of the new company, Vantage Studios. In a release that went up after this story was first published, Ubisoft says that Vantage Studios is a “first step” in the company’s move towards the future.

“Vantage Studios will take on development and expansion of these brands, building on the foundation of Ubisoft’s experience and expertise, sharing services and technical resources, all while giving developers more hands-on control over the games they are building,” Ubisoft said.

They continued: “The goal of Vantage Studios, and future creative houses, is to facilitate stronger and deeper connections between developers and players. This streamlined approach allows for both a higher level of autonomy for developers and a shorter pathway between gathering and implementing player feedback, while still offering the benefit of Ubisoft’s expertise, services, tools, and tech.”

Original: A new era is officially underway at Ubisoft. Insider Gaming understands that the new subsidiary company formed by Ubisoft and Tencent began work today, October 1.

It’s claimed that the new company will be called Vantage Studios.

As Insider Gaming exclusively reported, the plan with the new structure at Ubisoft is to break the company into “Creative Houses”. This first Creative House is the new company and includes the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six franchises. Other Ubisoft IPs will likely then be split off within the other Creative Houses as they are formed.

Regarding the new company, Vantage Studios, Tencent holds a 25% stake in the new subsidiary after investing €1.16 billion in the spring. In July, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced that Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot will serve as the Co-CEOs of the new company.

As far as what the next steps and first plans are for this new company, Insider Gaming will have more as it becomes available.

  • Vantage as in we took advantage of the system to con everyone and keep our positions and technically we keep established IP ajd get money without the burden of the old company also still owning that.

  • Surprised Ghost Recon and The Division are not at this new company either. But honestly Tencent should buy it out sooner than later then again they probably trust the Guillemot family will mess up soon enough and they can fully take over and move all the IP to China while the family and Ubisoft burn to the ground. Curious if they drop the Ubisoft engine for the Tencent one? Also they should sell Driver back to Atari as well. Is this going to be a Chinese and French studio or Montreal as usual?More than likely it will still be ubislop as usual until Tencent takes full control. Tencent should look to buy out Epic Games and Kadokawa as well.

  • Is this like the old MCU deal where to get the money they leveraged the IP ownership makes sense if that’s the case. Knowing Ubisoft it will be more garbage their studios can not make anything good and Tencent will own them soon enough or this subsidiary.

  • Why aren’t the same people who are mad about the EA Saudi deal complaining here? Tencent is backed by the Communist Government of China same with NetEase but no one complaining they commit human rights violations like the Uyghur concentration camps putting them into slavery and selling them for parts on the black market of violating agreements with Hong Kong and Taiwan you know actual violations but all these influencers and activists say nothing and continue then pretend the US is the worst country ever while trying to promote communism here just saying. Almost like they’re paid off too.
