Ubisoft Responds to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Microtransaction Backlash

Ubisoft has begun responding to the backlash over Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s microtransactions on Steam, stating that the standard edition is the complete experience and that the DLCs are optional.

To provide some context, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s reviews on Steam dropped considerably on launch day due to nearly $90 worth of microtransactions in the game. The reviews have improved slightly since then, climbing back to mostly positive, and Ubisoft has also responded to some of these reviews.

Ubisoft Says Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s Standard Edition is The Complete Experience

Ubisoft has begun addressing negative Steam reviews regarding the microtransactions in Black Flag Resynced, as reported by GamesRadar+. The company emphasizes that the standard edition of the game offers a full and complete experience. This version includes all necessary content, such as missions, islands, story elements, and the game world; nothing has been withheld for downloadable content. The DLCs are purely optional for players who wish to buy them.

Here is Ubisoft’s full response:

We’ve seen your feedback since launch, and we’re reading all of it. Thank you for caring this much about Black Flag Resynced. We want to be clear on one point: the standard edition is the full, complete experience. Every mission, every island, the full story and the complete world are all there, with nothing held back. The additional packs are entirely optional extras for players who want them, never a requirement to enjoy or complete the game.

We’ll keep listening as you play!

Some players have shared issues like “What’s the point of getting the deluxe version when, immediately in game, there’s $84.91 worth “DLC” that you don’t own”; “Bought the Deluxe Edition for £59.99 to have £76 of extra DLC advertised to me at launch. No thanks,” and more.
