CDPR To Start Development of The Witcher: ‘Polaris’ This Year

It has been revealed by CD Projekt’s joint CEO, Adam Badowski, that the firm intends to start active production of ‘Polaris’ this year. This is the next game in The Witcher series, one of the most widely-awarded and appreciated franchises in gaming history. In an interview with Reuters, Badowski stressed that the company wants to have ‘around 400 people’ working on Polaris within the next six months.

What’s Next For The Witcher?

It’s expected that there’s quite a wait in store for the next Witcher game. It was in 2015 that the last major title in the series – The Witcher 3 – was released, and it’s still a wildly popular game today. There’s a lot of debate online as to the subject matter of The Witcher: Polaris, and it’s widely believed that it won’t feature Geralt of Rivia as the main character.

In a recent interview with Doug Cockle, he touched upon that topic and reiterated his previous statement that he hasn’t been approached by CDPR to work on any more Witcher games.

That doesn’t mean ‘The Witcher 4’ won’t see Geralt take a smaller role away from the spotlight, of course. There’s a lot of content to pull at, with The Witcher boasting a far-reaching universe that stretches across thousands of years of fictional history. It’s still being worked on, too. Recently, the franchise’s creator, Andrzej Sapkowski, revealed he’s writing a new Witcher book.

  • They need to sell the company and bring in new leadership I don’t care what they say. This method means they only make 1 game per generation basically. Witcher 4 comes out by the end of this gen beginning of next just like Cyberpunk and Witcher 3 before it. CD Projekt has a massive amount of employees that could be working on more things.
