CD Projekt Red, a revered development studio in the gaming industry, has captivated fans with its back-to-back RPG blockbusters. Their ability to craft compelling RPGs, whether set in a dystopian future or a medieval past, is unparalleled.
However, since 2020, the studio has been quiet on the game release front, leaving fans eagerly anticipating their next move. The projects currently in development at CD Projekt Red, including the next Cyberpunk game and the Witcher 4, have been the subject of much speculation. The recent discussion about the latter has only heightened the excitement.
During an interview with The Flow podcast, the CD Projekt Red’s associate game director, Pawel Sasko, spoke about their upcoming project. Sasko clarified to the fans that all the games currently being developed are in the “early stages,” so we shouldn’t expect to hear about them anytime soon. The one that is the “most advanced” out of all the CD Projekt Red games would be Witcher 4. This is not a surprise, as most developers in the studio are currently involved in the upcoming Witcher game.
The next installment in the Witcher series, codenamed Polaris, is set to start active production in 2024. This ambitious project, the first in a brand-new trilogy, promises to introduce many new elements while staying true to the core experience that fans love.
One of the most significant changes is CD Projekt Red confirming that Geralt of Rivia will not be the protagonist of the next game, hinting at a fresh direction for the series is sure to pique fans’ interest.
On the topic of Witcher, a create-your-own Witcher 3 character mod surfaced online recently. Also, the live-action Witcher series has been renewed for a fifth and final season, with Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. What do you think about Witcher 4 being the ‘most advanced’ CD Projekt Game? Let us know in the comments.

How can it be the most advanced if it’s their most recent game?doesn’t make sense
Forget that where’s the Elric game from Runatyr?
It makes sense that Witcher 4 is going to be the most advanced if all their projects, they go all in with Real Engine and other upgrades.
Am sad to hear they retire Geralt but I think it was about time. I hope Ciri will take over unless the game takes a completely different narrative direction.
I cannot fathom a witcher story seperate from Geralt being interesting. This isn’t Star Wars or Warhammer 40k where the setting and world itself is vast and engaging. The Witcher setting is just Generic Grim-Dark Fantasy Setting #6 or whatever. These settings are window dressing for what these kinds of stories are really about: the characters. You wanna know why Blood Origin was doomed from the start? It isn’t just because of Netflix bozos, it’s because a sundering world origin is one of the most bland and overused world fantasy tropes ever. Almost every monster in the witcher is taken from an existing, modern fantasy story and rarely from real Eastern European folklore. The elves, dwarves, gnomes, and other races are all spitting images of what everyone thinks they are supposed to be, and not an inch more. This works for a story like the Witcher, where basic tropes need to quickly be understood by the reader so that the writing can focus back on what matters: Geralt – a captivating, relatable, interesting character, joined by his equally intriguing companions: Yen, Dandillion, Triss, Zoltan, etc. I refuse to play as V in generic fantasy land. If that’s what this game is, I will not be buying it.
