That’s it – The Day Before has finally been shut down, six weeks after it was released to the world and promptly imploded. There are few stories in gaming history quite like this one. It talks of a bizarre survival game that was never believed to be real, a developer that never stopped being shady, and a few hundred thousand gamers holding out the hope that something good would ultimately be delivered.
Sadly, that wasn’t the case. The Day Before turned out to be a broken, buggy scam of a game, and days after it was released, the developers cried financial instability and ran off into the night. Now, the game’s servers have been switched off forever, but is that the end of all things for the Gotovtstev brothers, the mysterious duo behind the creation of The Day Before?
Gone but Never Forgotten
The Day Before was a nightmare of a game from start to finish. It lived most of its life as vaporware – ‘in development’ but never promised to be released. When it finally dropped, it was certified as being one of the worst games ever made, and it ultimately led to the shutdown of the studio that developed it.
However, several sources have claimed that it’s not the end of the road for the troubling Gotovtstev brothers, now notorious for their work on one of the biggest flops in gaming history. Reports have surfaced claiming the brothers are working on a mobile game and have taken some of the employees (read: volunteers) who worked on The Day Before.

In one report, it was said that the brothers sought out their former workers ‘as if nothing ever happened’ with The Dayt Before.
So, shall we sit and wait for a strange, ‘looks-too-good-to-be-true’ game to surface in the coming years, developed by a hard-to-identify studio with a shady foundation and an inability to showcase anything tangible from the project?
Perhaps.
