Team Liquid Win ALGS Split 2 Playoffs After Nine-Game Final

Team Liquid are the latest Apex Legends champions, after winning the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs in Las Vegas’ Orleans Arena.

The intense nine-game final saw lots of teams nearly have their moment, but it was Liquid who held their nerve.

This is a fifth major Apex Legends trophy for Australian Rhys ‘Zer0’ Perry, who also became the first player to win 100 ALGS matches.

Here’s how the intensely dramatic final went down and how Team Liquid claimed the Year 6 trophy and $600k top prize.

An Electric Start

None of the 20 finalists wasted any time, as the first two matches were a bloodbath.

Every team leapt into action to try and rack up as many points as possible in an attempt to reach the 50-point Match Point milestone.

It was Alliance and Challenger Circuit team Forged Wolves Gaming who pulled out ahead of the pack at first.

In Match 5, they became the first teams to reach Match Point, and then White Grim Reaper came out of nowhere to win that same round and reach exactly 50 points too.

Then in Match 6, after a slow start, Team Vision won their second match of the block with a huge 18-kill, 30 points win to explode onto Match Point themselves.

Team Liquid Take Fate Into Their Own Hands

The final then nearly ended in Match 7.

Team Liquid finally got onto Match Point, but with Team Vision and Forged Wolves still alive, there was a chance they wouldn’t even get a chance to secure the trophy.

Yet, they managed to play spoiler. Forged Wolves were 30 HP away from winning, but Team Liquid came out on top to keep the series going – much to the crowd’s delight.

That win was Zero’s 100th ALGS win, and you got the feeling that his team had found their groove.

Liquid made it into the final three again in Match 8, but somehow it was Aurora who came out on top in a chaotic final circle to extend the final once more.

Then, in what ended up being the decider, Team Liquid picked off Team Vision early to clear their path to victory.

Team Liquid had themselves positioned perfectly and won their battle with Rex Regum Qeon to claim the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs trophy.

The final standings and points tally from the remarkable final were as follows:

  • Team Liquid – 91
  • Team Vision – 80
