Team Heretics Reunite Nukeduck with Mithy as LEC Head Coach

Team Heretics has made yet another change to its LEC team this year with the signing of Erlend ‘Nukeduck’ Våtevik Holm as head coach, pending Riot Games’ approval.

The Norwegian reunites with Heretics’ assistant coach and Spain’s Esports Nations Cup LoL coach, Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodríguez.

This comes after the reported departure of assistant coach Emre ‘Arkhe’ Akpınarlı, with Heretics confirming the organisation will reveal more news about its coaching structure in the coming days.

The signing of Nukeduck also spells doubts over the future of Heretics’ current head coach, Jonas ‘Hidon’ Vraa, who is contracted with the team until after LoL Worlds 2027.

Nukeduck’s Impressive Track Record

Nukeduck is one of the longest-serving members of LoL esports, having been competing at a top level since Season 2 in 2012.

After a 10-year pro career, playing for Lemondogs, Team Vitality, Origen and more, Nukeduck turned to coaching in North America.

After a long stint with Team 100 Thieves, Nukeduck then found success with FlyQuest.

Working with Mithy, Nukeduck led FlyQuest to three LEC titles, qualified for two World Championships, and pushed Gen.G to five games in a very impressive series.

Nukeduck first worked with Mithy in 2013 and 2014 playing together on Lemondogs and Ninjas in Pyjamas.

They then both played for Origen in 2019 before reuniting as coaches in 2024.

Team Heretics’ LEC Woes

The 2026 LEC season has been a very challenging one for Team Heretics.

The team has failed to qualify for the Playoffs in both splits so far and was also eliminated from Esports World Cup qualification.

Heretics finished dead last in the recent Spring Split after winning just one series and three out of 20 matches played.

Despite coaching staff members claiming that Heretics wants to build a long-term project, the team has already undergone numerous roster changes this year.

Support Paul ‘Stend’ Lardin was dropped for Han ‘Way’ Gil, and jungler Théo ‘Sheo’ Borile benched himself, forcing Heretics to promote Kacper ‘Daglas’ Dagiel.

After his previous success, can Nukeduck turn things around at Team Heretics? Let us know your thoughts on the Insider Gaming Discord.
