Take-Two Interactive appears set to get out of the indie business, and it’s closing studios to get there. According to a damning new report IGN’s Rebekah Valentine, Take-Two Interactive is working on a plan to either sell off or shut down it’s indie label Private Division.
Valentine states that Take-Two, despite saying that it “didn’t shutter” it’s indie studios, Kerbel Space Program developer Intercept Games will be closed on June 28. On a larger scale at Private Division, however, “almost all the staff” were let go at the end of April when it was said to them that Take-Two “would no longer support” the company.
The report adds that Take-Two has found a potential partner to buy Private Division in the form of an unknown private equity firm.
Valentine says that the sources she spoke to “expressed frustration at Take-Two leadership for alleged mismanagement of the label, and called out chief strategy officer and Private Division head Michael Worosz for poor leadership and mismanagement.”
On May 30, it was revealed that Private Division had terminated its agreement with Bloober Team to publish Project C. With this new information being brought to light, it makes more sense as to why the agreement was canceled.
It was also in April when Take-Two announced it was laying off 5% of its global workforce, and canceling numerous games.
Insider Gaming has reached out to Take-Two for comment on the report. Should a response be received, it will be added to the story. For what it’s worth, the company declined to comment to IGN on the claims brought fourth and the status of Private Division.

They should it’s a waste. Instead they should get some more remakes done finally remake GTA 3, SA, VC, and 4 Midnight Club 3 Remix, Manhunt 1 and 2, and since they got FIFA from EA bring back NBA Street call it NBA 2K Street and make a new Def Jam game or successor.
Yes that would have been better than Private Division
It’s such a shame that there won’t be a sequel to Days Gone, it was an awesome game and seem like it had a lot more story to tell, it’s a shame people are so petty and get their feelings hurt so easily.
