Subnautica 2’s Early Access release date for Xbox and PC has been set for May 2026.
For those unaware, a ruling was issued yesterday in the case between Krafton and the Unknown Worlds co-founders, with the judge deciding in favour of the latter. Krafton has been ordered to reinstate the CEO and refrain from interfering with his authority over the Subnautica 2 early access launch.
Unknown Worlds and Krafton Have Agreed for Subnautica 2’s Early Access Launch Window
A report by IGN confirms that Unknown Worlds and their partners at KRAFTON are unanimously determined to proceed with Subnautica 2’s early access launch in May 2026; however, an exact release date was not revealed. In a message shared with the team, Unknown Worlds head Steve Papoutsis stated that they have added more story chapters, built new creatures, and created new biomes, along with many other features, thanks to the team’s dedication.
Moreover, Papoutsis also confirmed that the Subnautica 2 team has “passed KRAFTON’s milestone review last week” and can move ahead with the open development journey with the community. At the moment, the priority is to get the “game into the hands of the community.”
Krafton has confirmed that it is moving forward with the Early Access release in May, even though it disagrees with the court’s rulings. However, their goal is to “minimize disruption to the team and to the release plan.”
