During the recent State of Play showcase, PlayStation fans the world over got another extended look at Stellar Blade, the in-development post-apocalyptic action title from Shift Up. In a video lasting a few minutes, gamers got an exclusive look at Stellar Blade’s story, its combat, and the combat-capable protagonist, Eve. In a recent interview, it was revealed that costume creation will be a big part of Stellar Blade, with the player being able to build and equip Eve with up to thirty different costumes.

In the recently revealed trailer, players got an eye-opening glimpse at some of those outfits.

Following the drop of the new trailer (which you can see below), fans took to social media to fawn rather lasciviously over Eve, Stellar Blade’s athletic protagonist. In a recent interview with Famitsu (in which the interviewer says they find the character ‘very attractive’), the game’s director, Kim Hyung Tae, spoke about the depth of Stellar Blade’s costume creation mechanics:

As you progress through the game, you may obtain materials for costumes and documents related to costume design. There are also costumes that can be purchased in towns and other locations, allowing you to receive and change into a wide variety of outfits. It is not as if the costumes are closely related to the story, but rather an element that was included to bring out the characters’ charm. Eve has about 20 to 30 different costumes. Adam and Lily, Eve’s friends, also have different costumes, just like her.

In Stellar Blade, the goal is to allow the player to ‘express all the things a female character can do when wielding a sword’, whatever that means. It’s about moving fast and unleashing devastating attacks upon enemies in a post-apocalyptic, semi-open world.

Several outfits will be made exclusively available as pre-order bonuses, and the rest will need to be made or bought in the game. There should be quite a diverse wardrobe available, but let’s not beat around the bush here – they’re almost all designed with the sole mission of accentuating Eve in as many ways as possible.
