Disney seems to want Star Wars Battlefront 3 and, according to new claims, is in talks with multiple studios about bringing the game to life.
According to a rumor from Electronic Games Monthly and spotted by Jeff Grubb, Lucasfilm has sent out feelers to see who could take on the task. And, based on those feelers, two specific studios are reportedly in the mix.
Two Studios Are The Rumored Frontrunners For Battlefront 3
Per the claims, both EA DICE and Bungie have had talks about handling the next installment of the franchise.
For EA DICE, it would be the continuation of a partnership that saw the development and release of the last two Star Wars Battlefront games. The studio released two games in 2015 and 2017, respectively.
Bungie, on the other hand, would be a surprise to many. The Studio has spent the last decade-plus working exclusively on the Destiny franchise as well as Marathon. Over the last few years, things have been tumultuous at the Sony-owned studio, with mass layoffs happening.
None of Lucasfilm, EA, or Bungie have commented on the rumors. If talks are happening, it’s likely that they remain so early that no real work is being done on a game. Fans likely shouldn’t expect to see Star Wars Battlefront 3, if it happens, for at least a handful of years.
