Splatoon 3 is getting a major content update that includes a visit from an “old friend”. Nintendo announced during its latest Nintendo Direct event the Splatoon 3 expansion pass.
The expansion pass, which sees Wave 1 launch in the spring, will feature Splatoon 1’s hub world, Inkopolis. All the original shops and characters from 2015’s first release will be included in the game.
“The first wave is Inkopolis,” the company announced. “Make this “splat-tastic” place from the original Splatoon game your stomping ground. Wave 1 also includes Inkopolis Plaza, which has changed over the past several years with some new shopkeepers. The Squid Sisters will also perform here during Splatfests.”
Also teased for Wave 2 of the paid DLC was a brand new game mode called Side Order. No other details about the mode were revealed aside from it featuring an “all-new single-player campaign”.
Players can preorder the expansion pass starting today. Those who buy the Splatoon 3 expansion pass will get bonus in-game currency as well as food and drink tickets.
Originally released in September 2022, Splatoon 3 continued the popularity third-person (paint) shooter series by expanding it with new main and special weapons.
