Sony Reveals God of War Laufey Release Date

During San Diego Comic-Con 2026, it was confirmed that God of War Laufey will launch on PS5 on February 16, 2027. This marks the next major installment in PlayStation’s popular franchise. Also notable is that Kratos is not the lead protagonist.

The release date trailer was also shared by the official Sony PlayStation account on Twitter.

A month ago, Jason Schreier was the first to share that the game could work as early as February. Sony Santa Monica then confirmed the game’s 2027 release earlier this month.

The game was officially revealed with a Gameplay trailer during the June 2026 Sony PlayStation State of Play presentation. The lead actress in the game, Deborah Ann Woll, previously shared that this game was first pitched to her nearly 10 years ago, as she was told about it in 2018, the same year God of War launched on the Sony PlayStation 4. Nine years later, players will be able to control Kratos’ wife in her own adventure.

In other exciting news, it was also revealed during San Diego Comic-Con that the next Kratos-led God of War game is coming after God of War Laufey and will directly tie into her story.

Are you excited now that the release date for Laufey is set? Sound off about this story and all others in our official Discord server.
