Some industry news this Thursday as Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has acquired iSIZE. iSize is a company that is known for building “AI-powered solutions to deliver bitrate savings and quality improvements for the media and entertainment industry”.
“The acquisition provides SIE with significant expertise in applying machine learning to video processing, which will benefit a range of our R&D efforts as well as our video and streaming services,” the media release says.

As far as what this means specifically for PlayStation, that isn’t known at this time. However, with iSIZE’s experience, it could be expected that it will play a role in Sony’s plans to improve its game streaming abilities and PlayStation Plus moving forward.
Due to what Sony says are “contractual commitments”, the terms of the acquisition will not be publicly disclosed.
