SEGA’s Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds may not hit the heights of a Mario Kart, but there’s significant interest in the Sonic-themed kart racer. Its Network Test was a huge hit, and now we know the game size and pre-load date for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
We should preface by saying Sonic Racing CrossWorlds won’t be influenced by Mario Kart World—despite how easy that would be. SEGA’s new racer is standing on its own two feet, and the Open Network Test attracted several hundred thousand players.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds looks to challenge the kart racer market, and its download size makes us want to go fast.
An Early Pre-Load Date For Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Beckons

If you pre-order the Standard Edition of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, you can pre-load the game two days early. This means it can be installed on your platform starting from September 23, ready for its general launch on September 25.
However, if you’re a Deluxe Edition owner, you get early access starting on the 22nd. You can pre-load the game 48 hours ahead of time, meaning, Deluxe Edition buyers can have Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds downloaded, raring and ready to go on September 20.
We’ve also got official word on CrossWorlds’ game file size on PS4 and PS5—thanks to the ever-reliable PlayStation Game Size.
The PlayStation 4 version will apparently be 12.601 GB, whereas PS5 users have to make a smidgeon more room: 13.161 GB. There’s no word yet on the Xbox, but expect this to be a similar size on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. On the other hand, the PC size isn’t known, but Steam says to allow for “9 GB available space.”
