OpTic Texas Benches Skyz and Could Be Picking Up Mercules, Report Claims

It has been claimed on social media that OpTic Texas has benched Skyz and the running rumour is that the organisation is eyeing up Toronto Ultra’s Mercules as a replacement ahead of Major IV at DreamHack Dallas.

It has only been a few weeks since Skyz became a key part of OpTic Texas’s starting roster, but the world champion player has failed to gain too much traction. By contrast, Mercules filled in on Ultra for an absent Beans at Major III and wowed fans with his abilities and rookie confidence.

Skyz The Limit

Skyz found himself pulled into the OpTic Texas lineup in March, replacing Kenny. It was a move that split the Green Wall down the middle, and many have spent time criticising the decision since.

OpTic Texas has had a tumultuous season thus far to say the least. Multiple roster changes and a monumental losing streak left the organisation in a sticky spot, and until landing a win this past weekend, it was entirely possible that OpTic could have missed COD Champs.

In a recent post on social media, CDL Intel claimed that Skyz has been benched by OpTic Texas, and the organisation is considering Mercules as his replacement.

The young rookie is no stranger to joining a squad at the last minute, but he’d be stepping up into one of the most prestigious esports labels in the business mere weeks after making his professional debut. That’s one hell of a jump up.

In a couple of weeks, the Call of Duty League heads to DreamHack Dallas for an historic event. It’s set to be one of the most phenomenal esports stages in the world, hosting a HCS Major, a CDL Major, and an IEM tournament in the same weekend.
