The Nintendo Switch 2 was first released last year, but a major topic of conversation regarding the console is the possibility of a price increase.
Rising RAM costs are hitting the industry hard, and while Nintendo has so far elected not to adjust prices for the Switch 2 console, there is no guarantee this will remain the case.
If you’re wondering whether now is the right time to pull the trigger and purchase a Nintendo Switch 2 console, Insider Gaming has all the details.
Will Nintendo Switch 2 Prices Increase?

There is no official news concerning a price increase for Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, but the shortage of RAM has led to a growing expectation that prices will be revised.
Insider Gaming reported in December that the increase in RAM prices could see the next generation of console releases delayed, and increases to the prices of current-gen consoles, including Switch 2.
In the most recent reports to emerge on the topic, Bloomberg reported similar, with reports including that Nintendo is considering raising the pricing of Switch 2 consoles, on the back of Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa stating earlier this month the company will “carefully consider” a price increase.
The ethics of a rise in price are certainly difficult to manoeuvre around, but all the signs are pointing to price adjustments in some capacity.
Should You Buy a Nintendo Switch 2?
If you’re planning to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 at some point this year, it might be better to pull the trigger now before any price rises occur.
While the Switch 2’s exclusivity catalogue is admittedly rather barren, the imminent release of Pokopia will add a major feather in the cap to the console. With new entries for the likes of Animal Crossing, Super Mario, Splatoon, and more surely on the cards for the future, the Switch 2 will have a much greater lure of big titles later down the line.
The good news is that, even without a large array of exclusive titles, the performance differences between the Switch 2 and its predecessor are night and day, with faster loading times and cleaner graphics across the board.
Although the outlay to grab a Switch 2 may be hefty, the long-term benefits are clear and will only continue to grow. If there’s a chance to save some money by purchasing the console early, it might be worth pulling the trigger.
