FromSoftware has just published the global gameplay reveal trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree, the first major Elden Ring expansion to hit the game since it was released in 2022. Fans of the iconic and challenging title have been waiting patiently (well, some of them) for the longest time, given that FromSoft first announced the expansion in March 2023.
It’s finally here, though. All that waiting has paid off, and the first trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree is out there for all to see.
In The Shadows
In Elden Ring, the Erdtree is the name given to the gargantuan golden tree that reaches high into the sky over the Lands Between. It’s a symbolic object that references the power of the Elden Ring and serves as the heart of the Golden Order. For almost a year, Elden Ring fans have known that the game’s first expansion will be called ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’, but until now, they’ve had no idea what that means.

In the trailer, we’re given an exclusive look at some of the terrifying themes in Shadow of the Erdtree, including some of the ferocious enemies players will be pitted against. There’s an entirely new and wide-open area to explore, a lengthy quest to unravel, and more dire challenges to overcome. It looks intensely challenging, with players being invited to explore the Realm of Shadow.
Shadow of the Erdtree will be released globally on June 21, 2024.
